hey fun fact: puttanesca literally translates to “whore sauce” in italian because it was cheap and quick to make so prostitutes made it before going out at night

The first thing Snape asks Harry is “Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘My regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolized bitter sorrow. If you combined that, it meant ‘I bitterly regret Lily’s death’.
Let me just lay down and die.
JK Rowling what the fuck you blow my mind
[series of gifs of women talking: “Comm rumors about lesbains that I would like to dispel:” “It’s not really sex.” “Are you sure? You don’t look like a lesbian.” “Something happened to them to make them gay.” “Guys that bats that say I’m a lesbian too. Can I join?” “Have you not been fucked right by a guy?” “Oh so, you hate guys? No I love guys. I just don’t want them in my bed.”]

“ Self-love, true self-love, does not have qualifiers. There are no specific actions required. I don’t have to lose weight, be beautiful, or be healthy to love myself. I can be fat and love myself the way I am. This doesn’t mean I am not allowed to change or that I am giving up on myself. It means that I have a right to my body and I have a right to make choices regarding my body. It means that I love myself, period.

I can have anxiety and love myself. I can stay in on a Saturday night and love myself. I can be too skinny and love myself. I can be single and love myself.

i go to the university of memphis, and walking home from my class this evening, i saw these signs. i’m sure there’s more all over campus but these are the ones i saw. it really hurt my heart reading them. because i know i’ve had major self esteem issues in my life, and i’m sure most of you have too. we’ve all been there and we all know how it feels. the one that really got my attention was the one about how girl’s self esteem peaks at age 9. and i thought ‘that can’t be accurate…’ but then i thought about it, and i’ve felt self conscience about my body/face as little as second grade. that’s about 8/9 years old. i just hate this. everyone deserves to feel beautiful. no matter what gender, weight, height, hair color, skin color, OR ANYTHING. we’re all people, we all have feelings, and we’re all beautiful.
Really puts things into perspective.
Holy shit, I reblogged this from someone in Canada.
I saw these too, but it was at 6pm so no photos.
I really want to go to the exhibit Tuesday about the changing ideas of perfection.

LGBTQ* What’s Your Sign?
ASL - American Sign Language - Signs for LGBTQ* Words
Lesbian - make a ”L” (same as the letter “L” in sign) rest it on your chin.
Gay- using your thumb and pointer finger (creating the symbol for the letter “g” in ASL), touch the base of your chin. —The letter “g” below.
(note: tugging one’s earlobe can also be used as slang for gay)
Bisexual - Make a “G” hand shape (like above) that starts at your chin, and brushes upwards towards the top of your head.
Transgender - the ASL for transgender seems to shift from area to area, having its own slang/signs within the community. Many people finger spell FTM or MTF.
I Love You - hand shape for the combined letters, ”I” “L” and ”Y”
I’m the co-chair, and organizer for a local outreach program that was just started in my town to help queer kids and allies.
I put together some “info handouts” and we’re all really excited about them.
Please let me know if you have ideas for more, or how we should change them to be even more inclusive.
Thanks everybody!
Update: From all the feedback, I’ve changed certain definitions and certain things on each flyer! Let me know if there’s still anything that can change!
Just reblogging the update!
awe! =D
“ I’m pro-choice because the personhood of a embryo/fetus is irrelevant: no person has the right to impose themselves on another’s body. I’m pro-choice because without the right and ability to say no, we lack the ability to say yes. I’m pro-choice because every child should have the right to be a chosen child, whether or not their conception was intended. I’m pro-choice because parenthood is way too damned hard for anyone to be forced into it. I’m pro-choice because people with uteruses are, y’know, people, and capable of making their own decisions. I’m pro-choice because there’s no way to ban abortion without upping the death rate of women. I’m pro-choice because intended or not (and I’d argue it mostly is), the outcomes of abortion bans are misogynist and reify patriarchy. I’m pro-choice because I refuse to tell you what to do with your body, and I wish the same right extended to me. I’m pro-choice because banning abortion doesn’t help recognize the personhood of children, it removes the personhood of people with uteruses.

The name of Scott Pilgrim’s band, Sex Bob-Omb, is a reference to the Nintendo video game Super Mario Bros. 2. The game features an enemy character named Bob-omb that looks like a small, round bomb with a lit fuse, legs, and eyes. An image resembling this character is depicted on the band’s kick drum.
